A Roadworthy Certificate, also known as a Safety Certificate in Queensland, is an official document that certifies your vehicle meets the minimum safety standards required by law. It’s a crucial step in ensuring that all vehicles on Queensland roads are safe to drive.

The inspection typically takes about 30 minutes, depending on the vehicle’s condition.
In Queensland, a Roadworthy Certificate is valid for 2 months or 2,000 km for private sellers, or 3 months or 1,000km for car dealers from the date of issue, whichever comes first.
If your vehicle doesn’t pass the first inspection, we’ll explain the problems we’ve identified and provide information about issues that need addressing. Once you’ve made the necessary repairs, you can rebook for a re-inspection. If the vehicle is reinspected within 14 days then you will not be charged for the re-inspection, although a small fee may be charged to cover travel time depending on the location of the vehicle.
